Our Stories

Piko's Heartfelt Journey
Piko’s story is a reminder of why Furry Friends Farm exists. From being safe in a home, to lost and frightened, and finally reunited joyfully with his family, his journey exemplifies the
sanctuary’s mission to rescue, care for, and give animals the love they deserve.

Our Compassionate Mission
Rescue Efforts
Currently, Furry Friends Farm cares for 5 dogs and over 30 cats and kittens, offering rescue, adoption, community education, and TNR programs for local cat colonies. Volunteers, neighbors, and friends work tirelessly to feed, foster, and care for the animals, ensuring each cat and dog receives the attention it deserves.

Community Engagement
The early days were challenging—and still are today—but we are helping the community significantly. Looking ahead, Furry Friends Farm plans to hold several events in 2026 for the community. In addition, we are conducting several TNRs with other local partners to reduce the feral population and also promote overall animal health and safety.

In just a few months, the sanctuary has rescued over 100 cats, kittens and dogs, spayed or neutered dozens of feral cats, rehomed tame cats and young kittens, and educated the community about the importance of spaying and neutering. The sanctuary also assists pet owners by transporting their cats to spay/neuter clinics, extending its reach and impact beyond the sanctuary’s gates.
FFF envisions indoor and outdoor facilities capable of housing at least 100 cats. Our short-term goal is to rescue and rehome ~25 cats per month, expanding the sanctuary’s reach even further.
Our long-term dreams include creating safe outdoor enclosures for hundreds of feral cats, expanding our dog rescue and rehoming program, and forming partnerships with other animal welfare organizations both on and off the island. Education and TNR programs will continue to be a cornerstone of Furry Friends Farm’s mission

To achieve these goals, the sanctuary seeks additional funding and volunteers to help care for animals and support building projects. Ultimately, Furry Friends Farm aims to be recognized as an invaluable rescue organization, devoted to the protection and care of abandoned, abused, and neglected animals across Hawaii’s Big Island.
